Aberbargoed Grasslands is a National Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), protected for the large population of Marsh Fritillary butterflies and its Purple Moor grass and rush pasture.
FCA designed and supervised enhancements to the setting for the existing centre in order to provide natural play and learning opportunities. These included a pond, swale and wetlands, dipping platform, outdoor classroom together with native and ornamental planting – the latter as a demonstration area for wildlife-friendly gardening.
